Headline: Bush steals the presidency He needs the backing of the media what could the remedy be? The country's headed for recession reminiscent of the Great Depression Are lives worth a world of power? Easy question Planes hit the towers and the Pentagon Killing those the government wasn't dependant on It's easy to control the scared so they keep us in fear With their favorite Middle Eastern demon named Bin Laden this year Bush disguises blood lust as patriotism Convincing the living to love "Operation Let's Get 'Em" But when he realized we don't support their attacks They needed something to distract, hmm, anthrax This further demonizes Afghanis So Americans cheer while we kill their innocent families And what better place to start a war To build a pipeline to get the oil that they had wanted before America supported the Taliban To get Russia out of Afghanistan That's how they got the arms in They're in a war against the Northern Alliance And we can't build a pipeline in hostile environments Here's what your history books won't show: You're a dead man for fucking with American dough They killed several birds with one stone While you're at home with anti-terrorism up in your dome But my eyes are wide open and my TV is off Great, 'cause I save on my electricity cost And you can wave that piece of shit flag if you dare But they killed us because we've been killing them for years Artist: Mr. Lif Album: Emergency Rations Song: Home of the Brave Typed by: Lucas.Lorenz@colorado.edu

Cuban Exile Could Test U.S. Definition of Terrorist By Tim Weiner

The incredible response to A.N.S.W.E.R.'s campaign to extradite anti-Cuban terrorist Luis Posada Carriles has led to people sending more than 20,000 emails and letters to Bush and members of Congress. Weeks of letter writing, press conferences and rallies has successfully drawn attention to the obvious hypocrisy of the Bush administration's so-called "War on Terrorism."

This campaign is making a big impact. Yesterday (May 9), the New York Times ran a major front-page story on the case. A link to the article can be found below.

Update:
About 3:30 pm ET today, 5/17/05, Luis Posada Carriles was detained by customs and immigration police, according to a live report from Andres Gomez of the Antonio Maceo Brigade in Miami. Posada was reportedly flown by the Department of Homeland Security to Homestead Air Force Base, although that base is not in operation.

It is not clear what the U.S. government plans to do with him. It is urgent that the demand of extradition to Venezuela be honored by the U.S. government. It is from Venezuela that Posada and Oslando Bosch planned the 1976 bombing of Cubana Airlines Flight 455.

The Administration's claims to ignorance about Posada's whereabouts - and therefore their assertion that there was nothing for them to do - were baseless, particularly in light of his asylum petition, which requires that he be called in for an asylum interview and if he failed to appear his request be denied. Also on May 13, Venezuela submitted a direct formal request to the U.S. for extradition of Posada (previously it has been submitted through Interpol) which the Bush Administration is now forced to contend with. Today Posada was scheduled for that asylum interview at 7 a.m., and reportedly did not go.

Posada and his representatives announced today that he was now going to leave the U.S. because of the pressure on the Bush Administration. Just prior to his arrest today, 1.5 million Cubans took to the streets, marching past the U.S. Interest Section in Havana. According to the Associated Press, "'This is not a march against the people of the United States,' said the 78-year-old Castro, differentiating between Americans and their government. 'It is a march against terrorism, in favor of life and of peace.'"

The question now for U.S. authorities is whether they will take Posada Carriles to some safe haven either inside or outside the U.S. or whether they will extradite him to Venezuela from which he is a fugitive. Venezuela is the site of the planning of the horrible bombing of the Cubana flight. People of the United States must keep up the pressure to demand extradited to Venezuela for trial.

"If it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate the from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
-Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn, exiled Russian novelist
